Spotify, the latest online music hype, has finally launched to the public in selected countries. Spotify works like iTunes but you pay monthly to access the library. Beta testers like myself are now converted to a free account but with vocal commercial added once in a while. Actually, I found this quite disturbing. The music catalogue also seems kind of reduced. Before signing deals with all the labels I am certain Spotify used illegal material (what else?). I noticed some music I actually was partaking in releasing many years ago was present. Great, features the motto of sharing is caring.
Anyway, Spotify will cost 99:- SEK /month which is nothing. Skip one lunch and buy your right to support this excellent trendsetter. Because that is what it actually is. Spotify is changing the way we will consume music. Now I am only hoping for a mobile platform (Windows Mobile!) and Squeezbox integration. I have enjoued Spotify at work, in my home, at the Riviera, at parties where music does not exists and in places one doesn’t want to be but is glad mobile broadband actually works.
It is great, you will love it, go get it.
