The search in Spotify is dead simple and mostly sufficient, but there comes a time when us users want to be a bit more advanced. I can tell you how by a couple of examples.
1. You want to search for a song named “cambodia” but not inclcuding albums in the hitlist.
“title: cambodia”
2. You want to search for an album called “Cambodia”
“album: cambodia”
3. You want to find Bob Dylan music in the 70s
“artist:bob dylan year:1970-79″
4. Looking for soul music?
“genre:soul”
5. Combination and negation. Search for the Dylan singing “All along the watchtower” but not on the album “Biograph”
artist:”bob dylan” AND title:watchtower NOT album:biograph
