The Swedish Performing Rights Society (STIM, governing artists’ rights) has released some interesting numbers. The claim that Lady Gaga was paid 2300 SEK (~USD 334) for 1M listenings to “Poker Face”. The payment was split with the songwriter partner Redone which leaves miss Gaga rougly USD 167.
Artist have earlier opted out from Spotify in protest of low royalty payouts and several more voices are now raised in concern both for the sake of Spotify as well as a fair payment to the artists.

Hello…. I’m a fan of Spotify but it is my opinion the value they bring to the artists and fans needs to be expanded, and, SOON. There are so many simple yet important things that can be done to do this, so, they can move past this current situation… I understand there have been lost of suggestions, and, I understand it is important to maintain focus, but, the upsides are worth it.
