My man afront over at The Pansentient League has announced “The Spotties” which is a community site award for sites and services relating to Spotify.

Afront has once again proven his value to the community of Spotify users and Spotify themselves are so keen on the idea that they have chipped in 3 three-months Premium subscriptions to be won by the voters. It is also an added bonus that afront is using Google Docs Forms to collect the results.

Spotify remote control for iPhone

Recently released iPhone application Remoteless let’s a user control a Spotify computer installation using the iPhone or iPod, or as the author himself explains it:

“Remoteless is the most feature rich Spotify remote for you iPhone, iPod touch or iPad! Control as many computers running Spotify as you want from your sofa!”

Spotify on maemo 5 for Nokia N900

Are you an owner of the brilliant Nokia N900?

Are you a fan of Spotify?

Spotify support has said no development is currently planned to support Spotify on Maemo 5.

So, what to do?

Well, “eskil” decided to take matter into own hands and started playing around with “despotify”. After tweaking the interface with Qt 4.6 and being able to deliver a working graphical front-end the hack is working.

Very cool mashup of Spotify and radio

The Swedish site www.radiofy.se makes perfect use of the Spotify API. The site is pulling music lists from several channels of SR.se (Swedish state controlled radio) and adds Spotify links and recommendations to each song.

Spotify on XBMC (Xbox Media Center)

Low payout for Gaga from Spotify

The Swedish Performing Rights Society (STIM, governing artists’ rights) has released some interesting numbers. The claim that Lady Gaga was paid 2300 SEK (~USD 334) for 1M listenings to “Poker Face”. The payment was split with the songwriter partner Redone which leaves miss Gaga rougly USD 167.

Artist have earlier opted out from Spotify in protest of low royalty payouts and several more voices are now raised in concern both for the sake of Spotify as well as a fair payment to the artists.

Spotify on Mac HTPC software Plex

Yesterday’s marriage of the two great applications is an important event. The XBMC-driven Mac HTPC software Plex has now added support for Spotify in the application. This great piece of news means that Spotify now goes TV in a very sleek way, adding yet another layer of usability and even more value to Plex.

Plex development is driven by an amazing crew lead by the enthusiast Elan.

Spotify mobile on Symbian

As of today Symbian users are able to use Spotify on their mobile phones. Phones that are support are for instance very many popular Nokia phones, some Sony Ericsson phones and Samsung phones. A great step forward!

The application is reported to run really well.
